Many players out there say their favourite rosewood-board Strats are the 1964–1966 examples.

I cannot say with certainty whether that is true for me personally, but I can definitely share that many of the 1964–1966 Strats I have played over the years have stayed in my memory as truly great guitars.

The 1965 Fender Stratocaster offered here is a wonderful example of that.

It is a powerful and very balanced guitar, delivering beautifully across all three pickups and throughout the entire register. Thick yet clear lows, healthy mids, and rich, open highs — exactly the kind of sound that explains why these mid-’60s Strats are held in such high regard.

The guitar has had a few solder joints worked on over the years, but aside from that and a reproduction back plate, it remains all original and presents in a very nice played condition.

It has been refretted and plays effortlessly, helped by a very comfortable medium C neck shape that feels immediately familiar in the hands.

A fantastic mid-’60s Stratocaster with all the feel, tone, and character one hopes to find in this era.
