Original Vox AC15 amps are not easy to come by—no matter where you are. Overshadowed by the more popular AC30, they were produced in much smaller numbers, making surviving originals like this one increasingly hard to find.

What sets this amp apart from the Vox AC30 is its lack of negative feedback. Yes, that comes with a bit more hiss—but in return, you get a more direct, unfiltered, and untamed breakup. It responds quickly to your playing, feeling lively, immediate, and highly expressive, with a raw edge that makes it stand out from its bigger sibling.

With its lower wattage and manageable weight, the AC15 Twin hits a sweet spot: perfect for home use, studio work, and small to mid-sized stages. The 2×12 configuration delivers excellent sound dispersion, filling the room with rich, dimensional tone—without overwhelming your ears.

When I found this amp, it came with non-original speakers and a replaced power transformer. Since then, it has been carefully brought closer to its roots with a properly sourced set of mid-’60s Fane 122/10 speakers, which complement the amp beautifully. It also features non-original wheels, and over the years it has seen regular servicing, with some mechanical components replaced (including the on/off switch), all in the interest of reliability.

Most importantly: it sounds incredible. Plug in, hit a chord, and you’ll understand immediately—this is the kind of amp that pulls you in from the very first note.
