I’ve always had a lot of love and respect for vintage fuzz pedals. There’s something about a truly great fuzz circuit that makes you feel alive — the feel, the response, the way the sound almost fights back at you in the best possible way. A fantastic fuzz almost plays you, not the other way around.

This 1968 Marshall Supa Fuzz is not just any Supa Fuzz — this is one of the rare early Marshall-produced stripboard examples in nice original condition.

When Marshall took over production of the Supa Fuzz from Sola Sound in 1968, they eventually transitioned to printed circuit board construction. This one, however, was still built on a stripboard layout, just like the earlier Sola-built units.

So what you’re really looking at here is essentially a Tone Bender MkII with OC75 transistors — simply built under the Marshall name and, thankfully, still available at a friendlier price point than the original Sola Sound versions.

Sound? Oh boy, this thing is massive.

It has that classic MkII character: thick, rich, harmonically complex fuzz with beautiful singing sustain and the kind of aggressive attack that immediately brings late-’60s British rock tones to mind. At the same time, it cleans up incredibly well from the guitar’s volume control and remains expressive and dynamic throughout.

A very cool and increasingly hard-to-find piece from the golden era of British fuzz pedals.
