In the early 1970s, Gibson responded to the rising demand for original late-’50s Les Pauls by reintroducing a Goldtop model they officially referred to as a 1958 Reissue. However, due to the actual specifications — most notably the wraparound bridge and other construction details closer to a 1954 Les Paul — today’s market commonly describes these guitars as 54/58 Reissues.

These early reissues represent an important chapter in Gibson history: one of the first serious attempts to reconnect with the golden-era Les Paul design, long before the later Historic program began.

Offered here is a 1972 example in true collector’s grade condition.

The guitar is all original, with untouched solder joints — a crucial detail for serious collectors. It remains exceptionally clean, showing only honest playing wear on the back and minor marks on the top below the stop tailpiece.
