Some guitars simply look like rock 'n' roll.

A 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Alpine White is undoubtedly one of them.

Introduced to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Les Paul Custom, these white Customs have become among the most desirable Norlin-era Gibsons. They are also forever associated with Randy Rhoads, who famously played a 1974 20th Anniversary Les Paul Custom during the early Ozzy Osbourne years. It is one of those guitars that perfectly captures the look and spirit of classic hard rock.

Offered here is a wonderfully original example with a story to tell, at a nice price.

The previous owner purchased the guitar from Norm's Rare Guitars back in the 1980s. Already then, it wore the deep scratches across the top that are still present today. No one knows for certain how they got there, but the long-standing consensus is that they were the work of a very angry romantic partner... who knows?! To me, those scars only add to its unmistakable mojo and rock 'n' roll attitude.

So scratches it has, surprisingly it also has: No breaks No overspray No finish repairs No extra holes

Some solder joints have been touched on the bridge pickup cover and pots, and I sourced two period correct and original witch hat knobs for it, as they were missing. Apart from a few screws, springs, and the lower strap button, this Les Paul is an impressively original 1974 example.

And it sounds exactly as it looks—a warrior.

The neck pickup is huge, warm, and commanding, while the bridge pickup has all the bite you could ask for. The ebony fingerboard gives the guitar a wonderfully fast response, adding snap and definition to every note. It has that unmistakable Les Paul Custom punch, yet remains articulate and responsive across the entire fretboard.

Original Polaris White 20th Anniversary Customs are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially examples that have escaped headstock breaks, heavy modifications, or refinishes. This one has lived a life, wears its scars proudly, and today stands as a wonderfully honest vintage Gibson with tremendous character.
