Introduced in 2014 and limited to just 300 units worldwide, the Mesa Boogie King Snake was Mesa's tribute to the legendary Mark I era and the singing lead tones that helped establish the company during the 1970s. Inspired by the amplifiers used by Carlos Santana and built around the spirit of those early Boogies, the King Snake combines vintage simplicity with remarkable touch sensitivity and musicality.

Serial number 170 offered here is a collector-grade example. It remains exceptionally clean and comes complete with its original manual, QC card, and protective cover.

And what a sound it has.

The clean side of the amp is rich, warm, and surprisingly spacious. It has that wonderful elasticity that makes every note feel connected to your fingers. Push the front end a little harder, and the amplifier transitions seamlessly into edge-of-breakup territory, delivering some of the most rewarding vintage-style overdrive tones Mesa has ever produced.

The lead voice is where the King Snake truly shines. Thick, vocal, sustaining, and harmonically rich, it effortlessly delivers the singing quality that made the original Mark I famous. Yet unlike many amps that specialize in lead tones, it never feels compressed or disconnected. Pick softly and it responds with nuance; dig in and it rewards you with sustain, bloom, and authority.

What I particularly enjoy about the King Snake is how broad its tonal palette actually is. It can comfortably cover blues, fusion, classic rock, southern rock, and even surprisingly aggressive modern sounds when pushed. The controls are interactive in the best possible way, encouraging experimentation rather than frustration. The interaction between VOLUME 1 and VOLUME 2 when using Input 1 holds within it endless sound possibilities.

Condition-wise, it is difficult to fault. It has clearly been treated with exceptional care throughout its life and remains in collector condition.

A rare opportunity to acquire one of Mesa Boogie's most musical modern amplifiers in exceptionally clean condition. With only 300 produced, they do not surface very often, especially not in this state of preservation.

Comes complete with its original manual, QC card, and protective cover.
