Even next to original ’50s Les Pauls, this one holds its ground with confidence.

The Gibson Les Paul CC#29 “Tamio Okuda” is not something you come across often. This is number 059 of only 300 aged pieces, and it shows exactly why this model has such a strong following.

The aging is done with a good sense of balance. The back shows more pronounced wear, while the top remains more subtle, resulting in a convincing and very natural-looking vintage patina. It’s the kind of aging that feels believable rather than overdone.

Spec-wise, this one stands out in a few ways. The neck is on the fuller side — closer to a ’58 profile than a typical ’59 — yet very well shaped and comfortable. It fills the hand nicely without ever getting in the way, making it a great option for players who like a bit more substance without sacrificing playability.

The guitar is fitted with Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers, which bring a bit more top-end presence compared to the usual Custombuckers. There’s a nice clarity and sparkle to the tone, reminiscent of some original PAFs, while still staying smooth and never harsh. Clean or driven, it covers the full range of classic Burst tones with ease. Combined with the mass of the neck, it delivers a strong, sustaining and very lively response.

At just 3.75 kg, it also sits in a very comfortable weight range — especially for a Collectors Choice model.

The previous owner had briefly swapped the pickups, but the original set is now back in place. As a result, the solder joints have been touched, but otherwise the guitar remains in excellent condition, showing only minimal playwear on the first few frets.

All in all, this is a very complete package — great sound, convincing looks, excellent playability, and strong collector appeal.
